2008 Goals
For the Freshman Transition Leadership Initiative to thrive and reach
its goals, it is critical that strategic partnerships are formed and
nurtured. Started as a grassroots effort by many devoted experts,
individuals, organizations and sponsors, the formalization of these
partnerships are an important 2008 goal.
We are looking for the following strategic partners:

- Districts and schools dedicated to initiating Freshman Transition courses and
the School-Wide Initiative as outline in the 10-Step Plan.
- Curriculum providers: Organizations or companies willing to develop and
support materials that meet the Course Standards for Freshman Transition
Classes.
- Workshop Sponsors: Educational entities, organizations and companies willing
to sponsor, organize, promote and host a Freshman Transition professional
development workshop or institute.
- Funders: Funding entities aligned with the goals of the Freshman Transition
Initiative and willing to partner recognizing FTI efforts’ as a key to high school redesign.
- Media: Magazine editors, newspaper journalists, columnists, radio hosts and TV
professionals who want to educate the public (educators and parents) about
strategies that help our young people become productive citizens and selfsufficient
adults.
- State and Federal legislators who believe that mandated student plans should
be 10-year plans (taking them into adulthood) rather than 4-year graduation plans.
